Shopping in the souqs!
Doha has many different kinds of shops, but the souqs are the most enjoyable to shop at. There are different sections of the souq that specialize in certain goods. I always go to the gold souqs before going home so I can have nice presents for my friends. There are also pearl souqs for those who want a little piece of Arabia to take home with them. There are many different kinds of shops, so it is best to walk and explore. Gold, pearls, you name it! Always, always haggle. The price on the item

The Carrefour Mall
This place has everything. The Carrefour inside the mall is the best and largest grocery store in the city. The mall has four levels with an ice skating rink, a bowling alley, a water park, and an amusement park with roller coasters. This place has everything you could possibly need

City Center Mall Entrance
There have been few occasions where I have ever spent so much time in a mall. This trip to Qatar was different. City Center Mall has many shops to choose from and many that will be recognizable to you from any country you may be travelling from. I was more interested in local handicrafts and had a difficult time navigating the souks. If you are looking for these types of items try the Afghani Bazaar or the two rug stores near it. If you need a pick me up after your shopping, you can choose some

The Giant Shopping Cart
What a testament to this country's love for shopping. This gigantic shopping cart (or trolley, or buggy, depending on where you're from) stands proudly in front of the Hyatt Plaza shopping mall. The mall has the usual shops you'd expect to find in a mall, as well as a food court (try the Yum Yum Tree), an indoor amusement park for kids called The Jungle Zone, and a large grocery store with cheaper prices than others around town.

This is one of five malls in Doha, all of which are pretty

The Landmark: Upscale Shopping Mall
The Landmark - a class of its own. The boutiques occupying the mall are mostly caters to upper class customers.

Thursday night was dedicated for families. As I am travelling with my workmate, we decided to eat first at Friday's. After our dinner (we finished around 9pm), that's the only time the security guard allowed us to enter the shopping mall.

Taxi is very hard to find in this area.

There was a display of Ducati motorcycles, Lamborghini and latest model of Volkswagen

Fruit and Vegetable Market
The market is a great place to get fresh fruits and vegetables at a very good price, and it's also an interesting place to visit just for the atmosphere. There is both a wholesale and retail section. You will first come across an open-sided, roofed area with many boxes and crates of produce; this is for wholesale distribution only and generally shuts down by late morning. If you want to buy just a small amount, go inside the white concrete building nearby, which stays open a bit later.

Villagio Qatar
Contemporary and trend setter shopping mall in Doha - and apparently it will be the largest. It is hosting a Carrefoure Supermarket and loads of other stores. It has an Italian theme with a super cool fake sky inside so it always looks like dusk in Tuscany! Some really nice eateries....very different from existing malls in doha. It’s funny how you feel like you are walking in the streets under a beautiful sky when you are walking in the mall. The whole interior is very pretty, very romantic.
